Have you ever imagined growing food from waste? We did it! We were capable of turning waste into potential material for sustainable agriculture while empowering the local rural community to mitigate and adapt to climate change effects, preserving the local natural resources, and protecting the environment despite all the challenges our country is facing.
My story is on how I became and environmentalist. Human actions damage it, and how individuals can help. The essay focuses on individuals because while I and you may not be able to influence international commitments or government actions, we can change our attitudes toward our environment, which spreads to those around us, and I am confident that if over 7 billion people do the same, we will achieve our goal of saving the planet Earth.
Douala, the commercial capital of Cameroon, has recently been experiencing an upsurge in plastic waste pollution. This is mostly due to increased production from the brewery and water bottling companies and inadequate waste management infrastructures. In 2017 the city of Douala produced more than 20,000 tons of plastic waste daily, of which about 2% was collected and less than 1% recycled. Environment and Food Foundation (E2F) in Cameroon is bringing up a new collection, reusing and recycling systems for plastic waste, with a traceable social and environmental impact on global waste management. Our innovative approach seeks to strengthen the plastic supply and value chains, create new jobs, and relieve Douala from plastics pollution.
The story talks about the knowledge I have on issues of environment, my personal experience on how impacts of climate change have affected me, it also talks about the initiatives I take in climate action, it further describes what has to be done in our communities to combat impacts of climate change, and it eventually speaks about the potential roles of young people to be engaged in this global agenda for creating a promising and sustainable future.

New reforms to education in Africa are transforming learning opportunities for the continent's youth, but learners still lack access to relevant skills that will help them secure employment opportunities. What can be done? I am passionate about science, one of the things about science that drew me to it is the fact it's about the discovery of knowledge. I believe that Africa, and especially Kenya, has all the resources that it needs to keep its people healthy, yet people are not enjoying the best health. One way that I believe I can solve that problem is by researching medicinal plants because I believe we have those resources we just need to find out the compounds in plants that we can utilize to keep ourselves healthy. Everything that we need to be healthy is provided to us by nature, we just have to tap through research and also by educating people on how to apply those principles and knowledge that we learned from research into being healthy. I envision a world where there is equality, quality education, improved health services for all, and good, effective and transformative leaders.

In 2017, I moved to a flat with no possibility to sort my organic waste. I then decided to start a community compost in my neighbourhood. After a year and a half organising meetings with citizens, looking for funding, asking for legal authorisations, etc, we finally opened the compost. Just one week later, 120 people had signed up to have access to it!
