Oluwaseun is a Nigeria-born and raised climate and nature advocate. She holds an MSc in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) where she specialises in Conservation and Land Management from Bangor University, United Kingdom, and Forest Ecosystems, Nature and Society from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She also holds a B.Sc. (honours) in Forestry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria.
Oluwaseun is a passionate advocate of the climate and nature nexus. She is particularly interested in how we develop holistic solutions that are just and right for the planet and the people. Over the years, Oluwaseun has focused mostly on forest and natural resource policy in relation to rural livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, climate change, and landscape restoration.
In Nigeria, she co-founded Ecosustainers, a network of young conservationists that promotes the leadership of local communities in sustainable forest management, and natural resource governance.
Previously, Oluwaseun worked on conservation and natural resources mapping with the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) and with the International Forestry Students' Association (IFSA) as the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)/Youth in Landscapes (YIL) Head of Sub-Commission. She also engaged in advocacy work with the United Nations-Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (UN-REDD) in the “Better with Forests” campaign, advocating for forest and nature protection at the Conference of Youth (COY15) and the Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25) in Madrid, Spain.
