We are hosting a three-part series focused on the who, what, where and how of nature-based solutions in the lead up to UNFCCC COP25.

PART 2) NBS Policy, Explained

We will outline the science, policy, youth perspective, and more in this educational series focused on de-mystifying COP25. Speakers include representatives from Conservation International, 4SD, Instituto Socioambiental, Wageningen University & Research, Youth4Nature and more who have an in-depth understanding of all-things nature-based solutions and their place within international policy.

  • Florence Lasbennes, Managing Director | 4SD - Skills, Systems, & Synergies for Sustainable Development

    • Florence Lasbennes is French agronomist specialized in the rural economy. She has worked in several African countries on rural land issues, food security, and post-conflict economic reconstruction. She has worked for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on food and nutrition security before joining the United Nations where she has led multi-stakeholder and multi-sector initiatives on food and nutrition. She is now the Managing Director of 4SD (Skills, Systems and Synergies for Sustainable Development) where she is leading training and mentoring programmes for change agents focusing on sustainable development.

  • Dr. David Nabarro, Strategic Director | 4SD - Skills, Systems, & Synergies for Sustainable Development

    • Dr. Nabarro is the former Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary General on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Climate Change. He has leadership experience in multilateral organizations, and is the corecipient of the 2018 World Food Prize.

  • Amanda Krijgsman, Researcher | Wageningen University & Research

    • Storyteller, Western Europe & Others Region | Youth4Nature

    • Amanda is a young Nature-based Solutions (NBS) expert with a Master's degree in International Land and Water Management at Wageningen University and a background in Urban Planning. She has a broad interest in nature's role in solving societal problems. She works as a researcher at Wageningen University & Research on the evidence-base of NBS by studying case studies from rural areas in the African region, cities in Europe and the Dutch agricultural sector.

  • Nurit Benusan, Researcher | Instituto Socioambiental (ISA)

    • Nurit Bensusan is a biologist and a forester who works at Instituto Socioambiental (www.socioambiental.org). She holds a Master in Ecology  and a PhD. in Science Education. She is also a researcher of the Laboratory of Anthropology of Science and Technique at the University of Brasilia. For the last 24 years, she has been working with the Convention on Biological Diversity, especially with protected areas and access to genetic resources and traditional knowledge and benefit sharing. She wrote 15 books on these subjects and she holds a blog on science and environment (www.planetabarbaro.com)
