COP25 Series: NBS Science, Explained

We are hosting a three-part series focused on the who, what, where and how of nature-based solutions in the lead up to UNFCCC COP25.

We will outline the science, policy, youth perspective, and more in this educational series focused on de-mystifying COP25. Speakers include representatives from Conservation International and 4SD, who have an in-depth understanding of all-things nature-based solutions and their place within international policy.

PART 1) NBS Science, Explained

This first webinar will focus on the science behind nature-based solutions, led by Dr. Bronson Griscom, Senior Director of Natural Climate Solutions at Conservation International. He leads Conservation International’s science applied to reducing global emissions by protecting, sustainably managing and restoring forests and other carbon storing ecosystems.

Bronson and his team will conduct transformative research on natural climate solutions, including their monitoring and evaluation against targets, and the design of strategies for their implementation. Natural climate solutions include actions to protect, restore, and improve the management of forests, agricultural lands, and wetlands while safeguarding biodiversity and food.

Prior to this role, Griscom served as Director of Forest Carbon Science at The Nature Conservancy, leading a research program to measure the climate benefits of international conservation programs, and to improve the design of conservation strategies for maximum climate benefit. In this role, Dr. Griscom led the research team that published the landmark study of natural climate solutions in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (2017).
