Nancy Verrees: To Esmeralda,is it possible to visit Bruges and try to introduce your project here?

Nancy Verrees: i would love to visit it

Marina Melanidis: Definitely! Nature is a part of the solution, it isn’t the entire solution :) But it is not receiving the amount of funding or attention that matches its potential to play a role in mitigation and adaptation

Marina Melanidis: https://www.naturebasedsolutionsinitiative.org/

Marina Melanidis: ^^ a great source for info about NBS and NDCs

The Paris Agreement underlined the need to ensure that global warming stays well below 2°C, aiming at maximum 1.5°C increase. Countries have committed to reduce their CO2 emissions in pledges called “Nationally Intended Contributions” (NDCs). However, the gap in 2030 between emission levels under full implementation these NDCs and those consistent with least-cost pathways to the 1.5°C and 2°C target are 32Gt of CO2 and 15Gt of CO2 respectively.

For this reason, countries must strengthen their ambition to reduce emissions and, at the same time, prepare for disruptive climatic events. In this process, the need rehabilitating natural systems with Nature-Based Solutions and the role of Youth has become critical for building sustainability and resilience.

Youth4Nature announces its first regional webinar for the Region ‘Western Europe and Others’ on July 26, 2019 at 17:30 pm Brussels Time (UTC+2), highlighting youth climate advocacy and the call to Nature-Based solutions in the Region ranging from Europe to North America and Oceania.

The webinar will feature a WWF Forest and Climate Hub Expert (Emelin Gasparrini), the UN Belgian Youth Representative (Esmeralda Wirtz) and the President of the World Youth Parliament for Water (Lindsey Aldaco-Manner).
