Asmita Rawat is a dynamic and enthusiastic young environmentalist hailing from the breathtaking alpine mountains of Mugu. Although she spent most of her childhood in Kailali, it was there that she developed a profound connection with nature, sparking a lifelong passion for conservation.
Asmita holds a Bachelor's degree in Forestry and aims to blend her love for the environment with her expertise in data and technical fields, focusing on climate finance economics. With extensive experience as a Climate Fellow, she has worked closely with rural municipalities to help prepare Local Disaster and Climate Resilience Plans and localize the Bipad (disaster) portal.
Currently, Asmita serves as the Youth Sounding Board Coordinator at the European Union in Nepal, a position she held after initially serving as a Youth Sounding Board member. In this role, she leads dynamic youths across Nepal, acting as a bridge to amplify their voices to the EU in Nepal.
As a Research Fellow at the Nepal Institute for Policy Research, Asmita's primary focus is on improving access to climate finance and ensuring its transparency. Her dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable development continues to drive her work, making significant contributions to her community and beyond.
