Everything You Wanted to Know about Bats and COVID-19: From a Global South Perspective

You can watch the recording of this webinar below!

-

COVID-19 is a global health crisis that has uprooted our lives and radically shifted how our societies operate across the world. It’s also caused many of us to reflect on humanity’s relationship with nature. Scientists have stated that COVID-19 likely originated from wildlife, specifically bats or pangolins. But what does this actually mean? And what can we learn from it?

In our first webinar of 2020, get all of your questions answered. Youth4Nature is excited to host a live Q&A session online with experts on bats and disease ecology. They will address your questions and share insights about bats and COVID-19, with a specific focus on the Global South perspective.

Speakers:

  • Rodrigo Medellín, IUCN’s Bat Specialist Group Co-Chair and National Geographic Explorer-at-Large

  • Luis Roberto Viquez, Bat immune system expert, PhD Candidate at the University of Ulm
