Ahoy, pirate! Get onboard our ship!
Soon our adventure begins! We will navigate in unknown waters to look for pearls and other treasures!
From April 8th until the 21st of June 2021, you can search for precious treasures at your own pace, and from the comfort of your home! We will be hiding treasures all over Y4N’s website, social media, and at our events.
You can do this with friends, or alone. And the best news - this isn’t one of those passive zoom events! It requires just a tiny little effort from time to time!
We promise fun and inspiration in return!
What treasures should you look for?
Although humanity spends a large deal of time and resources searching for gold and other minerals, for us in Y4N, nothing is more precious than stories of youth working in the nexus of nature and climate.
Y4N has collected more than 120 stories through our Storytelling Campaigns, starting with Raise Your Voice in 2019. At present, #YourStoryOurFuture, seeks to amplify the urgent messages, community-centered actions, and solution-oriented work that youth are leading across the world for nature and climate.
Youth voices are our treasures and throughout the #SpringofHopeY4N campaign, some of these stories will be hidden throughout our events, content production, and social media! Currently, all stories are available on our Story-map.
Where are the stories hidden?
Stories can be found in any content related to the #SpringofHopeY4N campaign - this means any of the campaign’s events, the toolkit, any media assets, or even on our social media! (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram).
#Protip: you can search for the official hashtag of the campaign on any of these platforms to make your treasure hunt easier. Just click for #SpringofHopeY4N.
To make it easier for you, we will give you a hint regarding the first treasure - the first treasure can be found in one of our published materials.
How can you keep track of the treasures you found?
To help you, we created an online map! On this map, you can keep track of the treasures that you found and where they were hidden! This is for your personal use only, don’t share with other pirates competing for the prize!
You found all the treasures! How do you report to the pirate ship?
We invite you to tell us more about the stories you found, where you found them, and how they inspired you for future action through this form. The first person or group to find most or all of the treasures will win!
Treasures will appear in international waters up to the 21st of June. So your search shouldn’t finish before that if you want to win! You have until the 1st of July to submit your answers about the treasure hunt!
TIMELINE
8th of April: Treasure Hunt starts!
21st of June: Last treasure drops in Y4N’s waters!
1st of July: The last day to bring the treasure to the pirate ship!
Who can participate?
We invite youth up to 30 years old to take part in the treasure hunt.
As a youth-led and youth-centered organization, Youth4Nature's definition of "youth" is currently under review, following concerns about our current age range. In certain pre-discussed cases, we might approve submissions from people slightly above the age range (<5-10 years), provided that their submissions reflect their recent experiences as young people and/or are centered on youth empowerment & intergenerational equity. In case of questions, reach to Raysa, raysa@youth4nature.org, or Emily, emily@youth4nature.org
What if you don’t win?
Don’t be sad! We are publishing all of your reflections in a blog post (if you wish to be published, of course!)! We will also issue a nice certificate to everyone who bravely took part in the treasure hunt!
