Indigenous Youth and their fight in times of COVID-19

Youth representatives of the communities who protect the tropical forests of Indonesia, Mesoamerica, Brazil, and the Amazon Basin will join youth climate activists and environmental justice educators Xiye Bastida (Twitter, Instagram) and Isaias Hernandez (@QueerBrownVegan on Instagram) in a dynamic Q&A event. They will share how the COVID crisis has impacted Indigenous and local communities and their fight for Mother Earth.

Join us for music, knowledge, and insights from youth on the frontlines.

This event was part of a larger campaign led by Guardians of the Forest, a partnership of Indigenous and local communities from tropical forests around the globe who represent more than 1800 communities and protect more that 400 million hectares of forests. COVID-19 poses a severe threat, on top of the many threats these communities are already fighting. To help, donate to their COVID-19 relief campaign and spread the word. 100% of donations go directly to the communities.

Youth4Nature was excited to partner with the Guardians of the Forest campaign in putting on this event, featuring: Indigenous People’s Alliance of the Archipielago (AMAN), Mesoamerican Alliance of Forest Peoples (AMPB), Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), The Indigenous People’s Alliance of Brazil (APIB), Weaving Ties, and Museum for the United Nations.
