Effectively communicating about the climate crisis can be one of the most effective skills for young people to positively impact the climate movement. Being able to break down the silos between biodiversity and climate, science and the general public, environment and social justice, etc. are key to widespread understanding of the intersectionality of these crises AND the solutions.
But, it is definitely a challenging space to navigate. The internet is flooded with content that encourages denial. Often, content related to the climate crisis can seem too abstract from reality or it is so rooted in the problem(s) that it causes tremendous anxiety.
As part of our #SpringOfHopeY4N campaign, we’re hosting a communications workshop to support youth in building the skills needed to navigate and positively contribute to intersectional and fact-based climate-nature communication online. Youth will leave this workshop ambassadors of nature on social media, having learned some of the best ways to speak about nature and the climate crisis online, focusing on solutions and without causing anxiety.
