SHE SHAPES NATURE: Tanzanian Girls and Women at the Forefront in Shaping Nature
In October 2023, Youth4Nature supported a series of activities under a newly launched project, She Shapes Nature, in Dar es Salaam and Pwani Region. A Y4N storytelling outreach project, She Shapes Nature focuses on collecting and amplifying the stories of local girls and women working in the nature-based economy, including circular waste management, seaweed farming, land-based farming and mangrove restoration.

However, the term โNbSโ is vulnerable to greenwashings, and the many examples of bad-faith actors co-opting โNbSโ in order to continue with the unsustainable, unjust status-quo have made it a complex and often fraught term to engage with
INUKA HAS LAUNCHED!!!
Youth4Nature is proud to announce the launch of a for-youth by-youth restoration project-INUKA. The project, which launches on 20 March 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, seeks to take advantage of experiential learning to deliver training on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) best practices, youth leadership and storytelling and scale-up solutions across five key landscapes in Kenya (Coastal Mangrove ecosystems, Inland wetlands, Semi-Arid, Highland forests and Agro-forestry ecosystems). INUKA is piloting in Kenya for 15 months following the launch, with scale-up plans to other Afrikan and Global South countries underway.

Youth4Nature's Afrika and Storytelling teams are partnering to get involved in the African Congress on Protected Areas, starting with this storytelling special competition. We are calling for youth across Afrika to submit their stories on protected areas, particularly (but not exclusively) looking for stories from North Africa, Southern Africa, Central Africa and non-Anglophone regions/communities.
