Is Nature the Forgotten Climate Solution?

Nature has the potential to be a powerful ally in the climate crisis. In fact, nature is a necessary one, with the potential to absorb 11 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide a year. That is the equivalent of stopping the use of oil annually.

Yet, despite being one third of the solution, nature only represents 1% of the climate conversation, and 3% of the funding for solutions.

Nature4Climate (N4C) is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN-REDD, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Conservation International (CI), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Woods Hole Research Center, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), World Resources Institute (WRI), We Mean Business (WMB) and WWF that aims to increase investment and action on natural climate solutions in support of the 2015 Paris climate agreement.

N4C is a great resource for science and news on natural climate solutions. They have also been a great supporter of Youth4Nature! We like them a lot, and encourage you to check them out.
