There seems to be an exponential increase in the pace of work at this time of year in the climate space. From meetings and deadlines, to programming and funding, to networking and planning, there just seems to be more and it all happens fast. We are thinking a lot about what this pace means for those working to keep up and for those being left behind. All the while, we are working diligently to find space for youth, to share that space across our community, and to collaborate meaningfully when we have it.
This is a time to mobilise together. To bridge our communities and our resources. To elevate voices, stories, and solutions. In our Africa Climate Week side event last week, our guest speaker Cinderella Ndlovu said, "As young people...we ARE a powerful stakeholder. We are not leaders of tomorrow, we are the leaders of today". We are holding this energy close as we move with intention, speak loud, and work together over the next few months!
And we need your help!

We'll be sharing more from their experiences soon, including reflections about their experiences as youth, what themes they saw developing ahead of other meetings this year, and what they’re calling on the global youth community to do next. We find this summary of the IUCN World Conservation Congress from Post2020 Framework relevant to share. You can check out the article here to read information from each day of the event. We especially recommend the mention of youth involvement, as it was one of their pillars during the Congress! How exciting and refreshing to see.
