Youth4Nature (Y4N) is pleased to present the illustrated report on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF). The report and illustrations break down the GBF for our youth community and audience and provide information about the importance of inclusion of youth as well as about the contradictions between Y4N’s Global Youth Statement on nature-based solutions. This report, with an accompanying summary of portions of the KM GBF, includes specific sections related to youth and the nature-climate nexus as well as graphics for social media.

After the recent gathering of world leaders at the 15th UN-CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) Conference of Parties (COP); we saw a rising focus on the global crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource use. Nature based Solutions (NbS) can help reduce its effects to a large degree, but only if it is implemented properly and covers the voices of all its stakeholders.

We filmed this short interview series with the youth representatives of the Global Biodiversity Youth Network to highlight youth representation at COP15 from around the world and present insights into how youth perceive the CBD space, including the processes, negotiations and outcomes from CBD COP15.

At COP27, Y4N and YEE joined forces to facilitate a knowledge exchange amongst youth peers globally on what climate adaptation is and how youth experience it, with an emphasis on amplifying diverse youth perspectives and environmental justice.

Youth4Nature supported four youth delegates to attend COP15, where we advocated for meaningful youth inclusion, rights-based approaches, and explicit connections between nature and climate. From November 6-18th, 2022, Egypt hosted the 27th UN Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh. As a youth organization advocating for nature and for climate justice we sent a 9-people delegation with a view to building on previous successes and paving the way for future.
